  Naval Brig Norfolk is a waterfront correctional facility with a maximum capacity of 145 prisoners, (120 male and 25 female), pre-trial confinement personnel and 30 Correctional Custody Awardees. The Commanding Officer, Naval Brig Norfolk is responsible to the Commanding Officer, NSA Norfolk and the Naval Personnel Command (PERS 84) for all matters concerning brig operations. Naval Brig Norfolk is certified to confine prisoners from all branches of the armed services and also operates a Correctional Custody Unit, which can support up to 20 male and 10 female awardees. The Correctional Custody Unit is designed to provide training and regimentation to personnel E3 and below and return them to their unit with the ability to satisfactorily complete their enlistment. The Naval Brig staff consists of 3 Officers, 120 Enlisted and 6 Civilian Employees and is composed of an Administrative Department, Operations Department and Programs Department. Guard Force personnel, Correctional Counselors and Support Staff are some of the many challenging positions available to sailors who receive orders to Naval Brig Norfolk.

  The Naval Brig’s mission is to provide a safe, clean and secure environment with a full range of correctional programs designed to assist the prisoner in creating a positive behavioral change for their return to military service or civilian life.
